One of my favorite places to kayak is Cedar Lake just west of Traverse City.

Loons nest there, so by returning to paddle the little lake I get to see them keeping the eggs warm, swimming with young chicks, then watching them feed the chicks as they get as large as the adults. 

And there are many turtles there.

And lots of frogs, but they were too busy to pose for photos.

Quiet Water Symposium

There was a great turnout this year, and my presentation about the islands of our Great Lakes had a standing room only crowd.

Hundreds of people visited my booth to buy my books, get information about engaging me as a speaker, and to get information on high-tech 

Advanced Elements kayaks.

 This kayak was a big part of my exploration of the islands in the Great Lakes basin. 

This high-tech inflatable kayak folds down into a duffle. This particular model (the advanced frame) weighs just 36 pounds.

A Kayak for my GREAT LAKES ISLAND ADVENTURE

When I began planning my new adventure

1000-Mile Great Lakes ISLAND Adventure

I decided I would kayak part of the journey to see some of these islands from the vantage on top of the water.

I've done a bit of kayaking over the years, but didn't currently own one. Since my journeys take me far from my home base, I wasn't looking forward to having to hoist a kayak on my car and drive with it tied down up there.

SO, I researched the newest, high-tech inflatable kayaks.

After reading the reviews, I approached
