In Search of Scale...

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a wild place.  There are sweeping vistas and dense forests and perched, steep dunes.

Every time I lifted the camera to my eye, I searched for something to give scale to the shot.  Something to use as a reference point to snap the scene to scale.

Check out these photos brought to scale by a person or boot or boat in the shot.

Looking down a steep, perched dune

Hiking along the log slide on a perched dune

A forest is given scale with Ben in the shot

Even small things are given scale by putting my boot in the shot

I am almost swallowed by this vista

Ben, sandstone ledges, and trees
