I love discovering indie bookstores when I travel. This week I was down in Atlanta visiting family and I went to the charming 

Little Shop of Stories in downtown Decatur, GA.

Decatur is home to one of the nation's largest book festivals, the AJC Decatur Book Festival, held every August. 

This bookstore is primarily for the kids. It is a inviting store that does a wonderful job of inviting kids to explore

the world of books.

And a few books for the parents of all the kids!

And I was delighted to see they had a few books for grownups, too.

I took some time to focus on my second book released this year, my novella, ATLANTA. And it seemed logical to launch the novella in Georgia. I was able to take my Lake Trek book along, too, and to introduce a Southern audience to both works.

One gentleman in Savannah came to my author event wearing an "M 22" t-shirt. Those of you who have traveled the NW corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula will recognize this as the designation of the road that winds through some of the most beautiful places in Michigan.



It is a joy to have had one book published this year, and I am thrilled to have a second book come out on the heels of A 1000-MILE WALK ON THE BEACH. My novella, ATLANTA, grew out of my years living in this Southern metropolis. I tried to capture the neighborhoods, the vibe, the lives, and the energy of this unique city. Though I only lived there for a handful of years, Atlanta still has a place in my heart.

A 1,000-Mile Walk on the Beach will be released in March and will be available wherever books are sold.

I have a second book coming out next year, a novella set in Atlanta. I have been writing fiction for many years and was a finalist for the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction in 2009.

ATLANTA depicts the tapestry of life in this modern city.

Here's a bit about Lori:

Lori is a poet, novelist, and freelance writer whose work has appeared in publications such as The Writer, Tipton Poetry Journal, and anthologies such as Van Gogh's Ear. Her novels include The Profiler and Moving Target. Her latest book is stains: early poems. She is a college writing instructor and Editor of The Ambassador Poetry Project. Coffee is her greatest addiction next to the tradition of putting ink on paper.
